DIY Family Wine Bottle Art

This is a simple project with so many possibilities for colors and text.  It’s also a great way to re-use empty wine bottles (or a good excuse to drink some wine so you can craft with the empty bottle!).

What You’ll Need:

  • 6 empty wine bottles, cleaned and dried
  • Chalkboard Paint (I used Martha Stewart Crafts Chalkboard Paint in Grey)
  • Permanent Vinyl (or letter sticks or paper or whatever you want to use for the text)
  • Mod Podge Gloss
  • Foam Brushes

With a foam brush and the chalkboard paint, paint all your bottles with 2 coats, allowing one hour drying time after the first coat.  Then allow to dry for 24-48 hours.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the family letters, but as I mentioned you could cut them out with an exacto knife or even buy sticker letters.

Then I used some transfer tape to put the letters onto the wine bottles.

Finally, paint all the bottles with a coat of Mod Podge gloss and allow to fully dry before putting them on display!

This is adorable! I have something similar in my dining room, but I love the font on your bottles! I’d love it if you stopped by my blog and shared this on my linky party! http://accidentallywonderful.blogspot.com/2012/11/now-co-hosting-inspiration-spotlight.html

Very cute idea! I think I’ll try it some time this week!
Just to clarify- the chalkboard paint isn’t used as an actual ‘chalkboard’ because it’s covered with Modge Podge correct?
Are there any other paints that could work with this project or only chalkboard paint is recommended?
