The Environmental Working Group (EWG) is a great site for checking the ingredients in your beauty products and they even have an app called Skin Deep available now too. It rates products on scale of 1-10 with 1 being the safest.
This post is NOT sponsored for the record. I’m simply sharing some great products I love and use daily!
I was a die-hard Bare Minerals fan…until I notice not so pure ingredients in some of the things I bought from them (hello, parabens in my favorite skin Rev-er Upper cream! So I began researching healthier options and ended up trying Alima Pure. It was started by a mother, Kate O’Brien who wanted safer cosmetics for her daughter.
I’m obsessed with this make-up’s silky texture and I love how they make it so easy to see their simple ingredients, which are proudly display on cards within your order (their shipping is crazy fast too). And there are SO many color choices it’s insane. I use their foundation powder, finishing powder, eye colors (some of my favorite everyday colors are Paris, Champagne and Leone), mascara and lipstick (which smells like cocoa powder!).

I searched months for a deodorant without parabens or aluminum. They’re harder to find than you’d think…especially ones that have good reviews. I tried one from an Etsy shop that I loved because it smelled fabulous and worked better than any other deodorant I’ve tried (and I buy the strongest OTC ones I can…I sweat a lot when I’m hot!), but it kept giving me a rash. That’s when I found Primal Pit Paste (which also offers a strong, a sensitive and a kid formula) and it rocks! No weird ingredients and it works so well. It’s a truly organic and all-nautral deodorant. This is another mom-started company and you can read about it here. I have the deodorant in the jar for home use and the stick for on the go/gym use. I even got my hubby hooked in it. He likes the Lemongrass and Thyme and Spice “flavor” and I like the Lavendar. I also love their Vanilla Peppermint Pucker Paste.
3. Life-Flo Retinol A 1% Cream
Forehead wrinkles…ugh. My mom has less than I do. She says they came from my dad! So I decided it was time to try a retinol creams since they’re known for being great for wrinkles. I’ve been using this almost 2 months and it’s definitely working and really has a nice, pleasant smell too! This cream is manufactured by Seychelles Organics and has better ingredients than any of the other creams I researched. I just started using their Radiant Skin cream too and it smells like watermelon! And you can’t beat those prices for these type of creams.
This stuff is amazing. I used it on my face (yes, oil on my face!) and it moisturizes so well. I also use it on my cuticles and in my hair.
I first discovered this perfume at a local Farmer’s Market. It smells like you just left a day at the spa. So fresh and clean! Even my husband comments when I wear this. I’m still trying to give up my favorite traditional perfumes, but products like that make it easier! I also love, love, love their Blue Ocean Whipped Salt Scrub.
