3D Paper Flowers “Hello” Sign

3D Paper Flowers Hello Sign

Hello crafty friends! Today, I’m sharing this sign I just kind of started throwing together yesterday afternoon in a moment of inspiration. The metal sign I’ve had for a few years from a clearance rack at Hobby Lobby but it was painted for Halloween so I painted over it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Graphite last week.

I’ve been staring at it trying to figure out what to do with it but I’ve been loving paper flowers lately and the Spring Wreath I made was too big for the front door, so I decided to do a hello sign to hang there (I think anyway, the porch is covered but I’m not sure if the humidity will ruin the paper flowers).

Want to make one? Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Metal or wood sign, painted black
  • White Vinyl (I used the Silhouette Brand in White)
  • Silhouette CAMEO
  • “Hello” shape
  • Cardstock (I used pink and purple)
  • Buttons
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Burlap Ribbon
  • Floral Wire

First, I measured the sign to determine the size I wanted the “hello” to be. I distorted it to fit the sign exactly. Then I cut the Hello shape on the vinyl (using my 12×24 mat) and used transfer tape to apply it to the sign.

For the flowers, I used various spiral shapes and cut them from card stock. I just twisted them up into flower shapes and then used a little piece of tape to hold the flower shape together so I could place them all out before actually hot gluing them down. Once I glued them on, I glued little button centers in each flower.

Finally, I took yellow burlap ribbon and bunched the ends, securing with floral wire. Then I hot glued each end to the back of the sign.

That’s it! Pretty quick and easy really! Now I just need to decide whether to keep it on the porch or put it over the TV.

What do you think?
