DIY Halloween Outdoor Wooden Road Sign. Behr sponsored this blog post. The opinions and text are all mine.
Oh how I love me a good Halloween project! Especially now that my kids are older and really love to see the decorations. Our new house has a ton of big trees outside and I thought an outdoor wooden road sign would look awesome right out front. So, I sat down and sketched out what I wanted it to look like, and then I headed to the hardware store for wood and BEHR MARQUEE® Exterior Paint & Primer in a selection of great Halloween colors. Since this paint is outdoor friendly I can display my new sign year after year!
- 1x1x8 post cut down to 5 feet high
- Decorative Wooden Furniture Leg (for topper)
- Assorted Wood Pieces (planks, arrows)
- BEHR MARQUEE Exterior Paint (or sample pots)
- Paint Brushes
- Painters Tape
- Wood Screws
I had the paint counter mix me up several colors in the BEHR MARQUEE sample sized pots. They’re so perfect for crafting, especially with colors so bright!
While I was at the hardware store I picked up the wooden pole and the decorate furniture leg to use as a topper for my sign. Then I hit up the craft store to find some wood planks and arrows. My husband drilled a hole into one end of the pole so I could attach the decorative leg (turned pole-topper).
I painted everything in bright colors and used painter’s tape to create the stripes on the pole. When dried, I attached the road signs to the pole using a drill and wood screws.
A perfectly fun Halloween sign made in a day that we can use year after year!
