Whip up this 10-Minute DIY Beach Tote Bag with the help of a free cut file!
The day before we headed to Destin, FL last week, I found this adorable tote bag at TJ Maxx for $24. I got home, and despite needing to pack myself and all three kids for the week, I really wanted this saying on the bag. I sat down to design the cut file, cut my stencil and color it in with a fabric marker in no time at all. And then I decided that I had to wait to publish this post since it only made sense to take pics of it at the beach!
Here’s what I used for this project:
- Silhouette CAMEO (or Portrait)
- Stencil Material of Choice (I used this so I could re-use my stencil to make more totes)
- Free cut file (.studio3 or .studio)
- Tote Bag
- Fabric Marker
Open the file in Silhouette Studio, size to fit your bag, cut stencil, and fill in with the fabric marker. So easy!
It came in super handy each day of beach-going…
This was our first family vacation and the kids LOVED the beach! It was also our first time in Destin and we highly recommend it. The beaches were beautiful and we couldn’t have asked for better weather.
We quickly learned that vacationing with small kids is really not vacationing at all. I joked on Facebook that it’s more like normal life in a gorgeous setting where it’s perfectly acceptable to have a $12 margarita at noon. I did get to read a whole book over the course of the week and looooong road trip though (yay!). We also drove by what will soon be our “new” home in Alabama since it was on the way down!
I tried to sneak in some family pics while we were there but my 3 year old fell asleep on the way to the location. She woke up cranky, refused to put down her Dora doll, largely insisted on being carried and was not in the mood to say “cheese”. Still, we managed to get a few decent pics!
My hair and the beach air do not play nice (holy frizz ball!). A hat was my saving grace! I picked up this dress for about $15 at Old Navy a few days before we left. So comfy.
We counted down for 7 months and it went by in a flash! The beach just makes my soul happy…I can’t wait to go back. 🙂
