Hello again! I’m Jen, from Fresh Crush, and I’m so happy to be back contributing to the Dawn Nicole Designs team! This time, I’m sharing a super easy, affordable — but most importantly, beautiful — Modern DIY Succulent Planter.
First, let me share this incredible, secret tip, that I love so much for all kinds of crafts, but it is particularly awesome for plants, floral pots, and centrepieces… what is it? A $15 drywall mud pan! The shape is modern, and you can leave it as is, with its beautiful shiny metallic finish… or, give some paint a try, like I did this time around.
I decided to change my new succulent planter, into a lovely copper finish — specifically, Tremclad’s Hammered Copper Finish. After a few quick sprays, it was ready to go.
Next, I gathered my new succulent plants. I bought three for about $20, and these beauties are low maintenance, so they’re sure to have a nice long life, on a small budget. A nice big aluminum roasting pan from the dollar store, is great for keeping the mess to a minimum when doing small indoor planting projects, or for those living in apartments with no outdoor space!
All that was left to do was arrange, and plant my new succulents into my fancy new plant pot! I polished things off with a few handfuls of decorative polished stones, to add to the clean, rustic-modern look.
I am absolutely loving this new addition to my living room console table. I find succulents so beautiful — it is almost like having a living sculpture in your home. They come in so many interesting, and gorgeous shapes and sizes.
These beauties have become a welcome addition to my gallery wall — truly becoming a piece of artwork in their own right. What do you think? Are you loving succulents as much as I do? Don’t forget my drywall mud pan trick — it’s so great for any number of projects!
