Ok, ready to get started with this journey? Scroll down for Step One!
Step One: Discover your creative purpose & personality
Do you create for calm? For energy?
In this step, the goal is to get clear on the role creativity plays in YOUR life. Why do you value it? Determining your why will give you the motivation to make changes you need to pursue more creative time in your life.
Use the template (click button below) to recall some of your most meaningful crafting experiences (using the representative shapes of joy, energy, calm, etc).
Order the creative shapes: #1 being whichever most applies to your crafting purpose to #7 least applicable.
TODAY’S INTERACTIVE STEP: Choose your top 1 or 2 creative intentions (shapes) and share one or both on social media with the #createroomjourney hashtag.
Step Two: IDENTIFY BARRIERS
Use the template to identify and list your barriers to creativity (click the button for the template).
Examples of barriers: I don’t have time. I don’t have the skills. I don’t have a proper workspace.
TODAY’S INTERACTIVE STEP: To complete this step, and be entered to win a DreamBox, download either the interactive graphic or your #1 barrier and share on Facebook, Instagram or Instagram Story. Be sure to use #createroomjourney and tag @theoriginalscrapbox.
Step Three: Make a Plan
- Set CREATE Goals: Concrete (specific), Realistic, Exact (measurable), Action-oriented, Time-bound (trackable), Exciting (rewarding)
- Fill out timeline with milestones for reaching your CREATE goals
TODAY’S INTERACTIVE STEP: To complete this step, and be entered to win a DreamBox, download the graphic for your C.R.E.A.T.E. Goals and share on Facebook, Instagram or Instagram Story. Be sure to use #createroomjourney and tag @theoriginalscrapbox.
Step FOUR: GET ORGANIZED
- Where are your craft supplies hiding?
- We’ll make a list, organize, and create the ideal DreamBox layout in this step!
TODAY’S INTERACTIVE STEP: To complete this step, and be entered to win a DreamBox, download the Step Four Graphic and share on Facebook, Instagram or Instagram Story. Be sure to use #createroomjourney and tag @theoriginalscrapbox.
Step Five: Create Room Everyday
All you have to do today is so grab the Create Room Everyday graphic and share it on your social. Then you’ve completed all five steps!
P.S. Here ARE MY STEPS for THE Create Room Journey!
I’m completing the steps right along with you.
Step One: For my core creative purpose, I ended up choosing calm for my main purpose.
Step Two: I chose time, organization, and energy.
- Time is hard to come by with three kids and what feels like never-ending errands and appointments.
- Energy. I’ve struggled for years and years with energy levels. In my 20s, every doc wrote it off as chronic fatigue after having mono in college. In my early 30s, they discovered I’m hypothyroid. My newest doc found I’m also low in a slow of vitamins. Some days are better than others but there’s rarely a day I feel good and energetic.
- Organization. This may seem odd since I’m a pretty organized person but more problem is I have too many art supplies. Some are over a decade old. I need to purge anything super old and donate things I don’t use.
Step Three: C.R.E.A.T.E.
I’ve already complete this step but my main goal was to majorly purge old and unused craft supplies. After 10 years of doing this for a living, I had way too much stuff. It hindered my organization and my creative process.
Step Four; Get Organized
My supplies were hiding in bins in our under-the-stairs-storage and in “nooks and crannies” in my office. Here is the layout plan I did along with my final DreamBox organization results! Check out the full blog post on How I Organized my DreamBox here.
