I’ve had this cupcake stand for a long time just sitting in my craft room. You might remember that I turned it into a Jewelry Holder when I shared the post Turning a Spare Room into an Organized Closet, but I had never actually finished the raw wood. Well, I finally got around to it. Not only is it easy but it uses two of my favorite craft items: Mod Podge and Glitter.
What You’ll Need:
- MDF Tiered Cupcake Stand (Your local craft store should have these or Google the phrase and you’ll find plenty)
- Acrylic Paint (I used white)
- Mod Podge
- Foam Brushes
- Hot Glue Gun
As you can see, I have a cupcake stand with slats which is perfect for hanging earrings. If you can’t find one like this, drill holes all around the bottom layer before you start (or just use your stand for bracelets and rings).
Paint the “x” pieces with the acrylic paint. For the round layers, brush with a thick coat of Mod Podge and sprinkle with glitter. Allow pieces to dry thoroughly.
As you put the layera back together, start with the bottom of the stand and hot glue the first glitter layer on top. Apply another thick coat of Mod Podge over the glitter to help keep it from “shedding”. Repeat with each layer until it’s all back together. Once dry, load it up with your jewelry.
