Free Printable Coloring Page Bookmarks
It’s pretty safe to say you guys love coloring! ?
With Summer coming, I thought incorporating a fun little DIY reading-related project into the coloring page would be a great activity for adults and kids alike.
I’m a huge reader and spend a lot of my free time with my nose in a book. (Side note: You can find me here on Goodreads to see my book reviews!)
So get your markers/crayons/pencils/watercolors and some cardstock ready to create these DIY Bookmarks!

Steps to make the bookmarks:
- Print on white cardstock.
- Color.
- Cut.
- Add a layer of colored cardstock if you like (shown below)
- Laminate with these nifty self-laminating sheets. No machine needed!
Coloring Supplies
A lot of people ask about my favorite coloring supplies so here’s what I usually use:
- Paper: Ultra Smooth White Cardstock. This one is perfect for use with markers!
- Colored Pencils: Tombow 1500 Colored Pencils
- Waterbased Markers: Tombow Dual Tips are the Bomb for both coloring and lettering.
- Alcohol Based Markers: Copic Sketch Markers layer and blend dreamily.
- Gel Pens: Sakura Gelly Roll Pens are a staple for adding details over marker or colored pencils!
- Paper Trimmer: I design all coloring pages to be 8×10 so you can easily trim and frame your artwork! A paper trimmer gives you nice straight lines if, like me, you have the straight line cutting skills of a 5-year-old.

Thank you! Printed this for my daughter’s class at school to do during the last {boring} week 🙂
Hi Kristine! Ha, yes! My son’s week is full of movies, field day and the like. I’m so ready for a break from lunch packing and alarm setting! 🙂 Have a great last school week! -Dawn
Thanks so much for these! I’ve only just recently heard about adult colouring books and I’ve been intrigued so this is an ideal taster! I shall definitely check out your book. Your illustrations and typography are just gorgeous!

I love these! Would you mind if I printed some out for my library patrons? I’m doing a display on color and creativity this month and am including some adult coloring sheets; bookmarks would be the perfect addition.
Hi Bridget! Thanks so much! I love that idea and that’s fine with me. I do appreciate you asking! Have a great weekend and happy coloring! -Dawn
Oh, boy! I’m having just as much fun talking to people about coloring as I have coloring things myself. In less than a week I have given out over 50 coloring pages. We’ve had coloring pages for kids for years; it’s nice to be able to acknowledge adults’ love for it as well.
Hi Dawn – My library would also like to use these for our adult patrons to enjoy – would that be ok? Sandy
Hi Sandy! Yes, as long as my copyright info is kept in tact, that’s okay! 🙂 Enjoy!
I was hoping you would be okay with us printing out some for our library patrons too.
Hi Dawn! Yes that’s fine! 🙂 I just asked that my copyright info appears on the print outs. 🙂
Hi Dawn! I am the manager of the La Quinta Museum (La Quinta, CA) and we just started a coloring club for adults. May I print these and share with the members? I am also doing a poster session for the Riverside County Library All Staff Day on adult coloring and would love to include these…with your permission of course! Pictures of the La Quinta Museum Adult Coloring Club are on the La Quinta Museum facebook page…hope you will check us out!
Many thanks!
Robin
Hi Robin! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We’ve been moving to a new state this week. Thanks so much for asking permission to use them. I just ask that the copyright/website into is kept in tact on the print out. Happy coloring! All the best, Dawn

Hi Jasmine! You’re so welcome! I hope they love them. 🙂
Hello Dawn! I came across a link for your page on CraftGossip.com and I also would like to use your bookmarks at a community-wide event for kids that the library I work at is participating in. I see that you have been very accommodating in letting your work be used as long as proper credit is given to you for your wonderful design work. If this is no longer the case, please let me know and I will find another activity to use to promote the library. Thanks!
P.S. I am looking forward to further exploring your site for myself, too!
Hi Tara! Yes, that is still the case for library use! Thank you so much for asking. I have a new set of Fall bookmarks in the works too. 🙂 Have a great rest of the week! -Dawn

Hi! I am enjoying your Facebook lettering class! I am behind, but hope to get a chance to get caught up. I work at my local library and am doing an adult coloring workshop for holiday cards. I thought being a library that it would be fun to also have your great bookmarks available, if that is okay with you. Thanks.
Hi Laura! Thank you so much. Yes, I’m allowing library use so long as the copyright info is kept on the coloring sheet. 🙂 Thanks so much and happy coloring! -Dawn

Hello Dawn,
I love your designs!! I am launching a book and would love to include a bookmark with one of your designs in my bonus goodie bag. I’d add your name and website. Is this ok with you?
Glenda Nicholls
Hi Glenda, I’m sorry but that would be considered commercial use is that’s not allowed. Congrats on your book! -Dawn
Ok. Thanks for the fast reply. Cheers!
Hi Dawn,
I just found your bookmarks on Pinterest, and as a 6th grade Reading teacher, I’m thrilled! I’m always on the lookout for fun bookmarks for kids. I think I’ll print these out, have kids write their names on the back, then laminate them so they last longer. I’m planning to blog about this in the next week or so, after I have my students color them (and I can take some pictures) because these are super cool! Thank you for this wonderful freebie.
Hi Marion, I’m so happy you’ll be using these. I hope the kids love them. Did you see the Winter ones I just posted a few days ago? You can find them here: http://bydawnnicole.com/2015/12/winter-bookmarks-coloring-page.html. Happy coloring!
Thought you might want to see my blogpost about your bookmarks.

After reading through your responses to comments, it appears that you’re okay with libraries using your beautiful bookmarks as free resources for patrons so long as we keep your copyright information. But just for due diligence, I’ll ask again! They are very lovely, thanks so much for sharing!

Hi Emma,
I’m sorry, these are not available for commercial use at this time. They’re already in use for a publisher.
All the best,
Dawn
Hi Dawn
It is really nice to hear from you. In this case, we would like to know if you can design a set for us, and how is the cost for this.
e.g. we would like to have some crown on the book marker, and make it a series. Kindly get back to me soon.
cheers
Emma Chien
Hi Emma! I’m so sorry, I’m not taking on custom orders at this time. I’m in the middle of moving overseas and booked for nearly the rest of 2016.
My husband and I own a small used book store and I would like to use these bookmarks for a giveaway at our upcoming open house. I will include your copyright information and website on the back of each one, centered and printed near the bottom. I noticed in looking at the sheet that your website appears to be misspelled, bydawnicole.com instead of bydawnnicole.com. If I may use these designs I will use the correct web address on the reverse.
Hi Mechele! Sure, that is fine and thanks for asking and for catching my typo!
I am going to use these for a DIY/Crafting display at the Library I work at! 🙂
Hi Dawn Nicole,
I am a school librarian and would like permission to share these coloring bookmarks with my students. I will include your copyright information on the bookmarks.
Thanks!
Hi Jenny! Go right ahead. Including copyright info is all I ask for library use. 🙂 Enjoy!
Hi Dawn,
I am President of the Friends of the Monmouth County Library. I love your designs and would love to give them to participants in our library’s programs. I know I will have to show permission to governing staff (if you would be so kind as to allow). Would you send your response to “MCLibrary Friends” . Thank you for your consideration.
Hi MCLibrary friends! I’m happy to grant library use so long as my copyright info appears on the printouts. Thank you and enjoy! -Dawn
Thank you. Of course, we will use your copyright info. Much appreciated.
Beth
Hello,
I would like to ask permission to print out your free color bookmarks to hand out to patrons at our library. I would keep your website and copyright on the sheets.
Thank you.
Hi Dee,
Thank you so much for reaching out! I’m more than happy to grant teacher and library use. I just ask that my copyright info appears on the printouts (as you’ve mentioned already). 🙂
Happy coloring!
Dawn
Thanks for the bookmarks!
You’re so welcome! 🙂 Happy Coloring!
