Like it, Love it, Obsessed: December Edition. My favorite things from this month make great gift ideas…for yourself or someone who loves lettering as much as you do!
Like it, Love it, Obsessed: December Edition
I just love writing this post each month. I get to shop, play with things, and then tell you what I loved most. Not a bad deal, right? The things I loved this month also make great gift ideas (even if you want to gift them to yourself)! ?
A new month, a new book. By now you know I add at least one book to my lettering library each month. This month is was Mastering Hand-Lettering. Mye’s work is amazing and I feel like her style coincides with my own, so I really enjoyed this book. Not only is it beautiful, it’s attention to detail makes it great for beginners. If you’re a more advanced lettering artist, you’ll find the second half of the book most useful, as the first half focuses on drawing every letter of the alphabet.
New Tombow Dual Tips Marker Sets
Being a Tombow Senior Brand Ambassadors means I get to try pretty much all the new Tombow things…and I am loving these two new Dual-Tip Marker Sets! I’ve been playing with them this week, so keep an eye on my Instagram for how I’m using each set.
Reminder: If you shop via Tombow’s site, be sure to check my DND Reader Specials Page for coupon codes you can use on TombowUSA.com. They ship to the U.S. and Canada.
This is a pic of how I use the galaxy set to create a little dreamy ampersand art.
I am a big fan of Valerie McKeehan’s work and her classes are always so much fun. This Watercolor Lettering and Illustration Class is her latest collab with Brit + Co and I just took it last week. It was my favorite online class I took this month. These classes are giftable too. Just click the “send as a gift” button to gift the class to someone for Christmas!
These Faber-Castell made watercolor pencils are perfect for the class above. Albrecht Dürer was a famous German artist known for his painting and printmaking. I splurged on the big set but these fab pencils come in all kinds of size options, so there’s a set for every budget. I’ve especially been loving using Watercolor Pencils on dark paper as I did in this piece below. (I used the Derwent Set and love those as well but decided to upgrade to this slightly nicer set since I’ve been using them so much!)
These adorable and highly giftable lettering tins were created by my fellow Tombow Ambassador, Shelley Kim. They’d make a great stocking stuffer for a beginner letterer. Each card gives you step by step details on how to create that letter. The tins come in two options:
And finally, on a non-lettering related note, I bought our 6-month-old Chorkie puppy, Luna, some adorable puppy clothes over on Express.com! It’s too cute not to share. Thanks to Black Friday sales, all but this coat were sold out at the time I was writing this post. But that is actually my kid’s favorite one. They love the faux-hawk on the hoodie of that one on Luna!
Stay tuned for next month’s Like it, Love it, Obsessed!
