Like it, Love it, Obsessed: July Edition. A monthly blog series. It’s a fun way to share new goodies I’m loving…and it helps justify my shopping problem! Win, win.
Like it, Love it, Obsessed: July Edition
I started this new series last month, and I had just as much fun writing it this month! Here are all the goodies I’m liking, loving, and downright obsessed with this month.
One: Favorite Art Supply of the Month
I’m obsessed with the new Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks! Made of a water-reactive dye & pigment ink fusion, they create an oxidized effect when sprayed with water. And it is SO COOL, you guys! I tried it on my first go at Bible Journaling a few weeks back (left page). They blend so easily and also layer well.
Two: My Bookshelf is Overflowing!
I ordered a few new art + lettering books to add to my collection this month, and I love them! I always like to see how other artists approach the same thing.
- Hand Lettering A to Z: A World of Creative Ideas for Drawing and Designing Alphabets by Abbey Sy. I’ve followed Abbey on Instagram for a long time and have always loved her style, so picking up a copy of her book was a must!
- How To Draw Modern Florals: An Introduction To The Art of Flowers, Cacti, and More by Alli Koch. Holy moly is this book stunningly gorgeous! The tutorials are not only beautiful, but they’re also easy to follow.
Three: Never Stop Learning
I’m working on my watercolor skills by taking this new Monotone Watercolor Florals class over on Skillshare!
Four: Take a Break!
Blogging and designing means I spend a lot of hours sitting on my booty at my desk, so making time for daily exercise is a huge priority. I schedule my workout time in my planner. Most of my best ideas come to me during my workouts anyway!
Last month I shared my love of the ChaLEAN Extreme program. I’m about to start my third round I’ve seen such great changes, but I also wanted to add in more low-impact cardio and try to lose these last few pounds (that are hanging around because living in Europe=wine and carbs ?). I recently discovered Jessica Smith’s Walking Workouts, and I LOVE them so much! So I’ve started adding her Walk On: 30 Days Challenge to my workout routine.
Five: Getting Dressed is Optional
When you work from home, it’s easy to get into a routine of never truly getting ready for the day. But getting dressed does affect my mood and my productivity. So I’m trying to put on real clothes more often. Last month I talked about how I reluctantly joined Stitch Fix. I like to pick out my clothes…but I’m horrible about buying everything in black. So, I mostly signed up to try to add some color and fresh style to my wardrobe.
I have to give it up to Stitch Fix again this month because it was just as great as last month’s fix! I’ve been loving the Boho Chic summer style, and my stylist has been picking things I love. In addition to the two dress and lacey tank shown below, I got a cute white denim jacket, and blue ballet flats.
Now, I wait for every box like a kid at Christmas!
I hope you enjoyed the Like it, Love it, Obsessed: July Edition. Stay tuned for next month’s edition!
