This Rustic Glam LOVE Mantel is just more evidence of my love for mixing vintage-style with more modern elements. Shabby Chic, Rustic Glam, Farmhouse Chic…whatever you want to call it, I love it!
I love the idea of celebrating love, but I really like the “just because” moments even more. Still, adding a little love décor this time of year can’t hurt, right?
My husband actually proposed the day after Valentine’s Day, “just to avoid being totally cliché” he said. The pictures below are from that day 8 years ago. They are pretty bad quality because of computer crashes over the years. These are the only photos we could save of our engagement (we now back up our computers weekly!). We were about to depart on a Caribbean cruise I had one from my work. He proposed just before the ship left the dock, joking that he wanted to be near land in case I didn’t say yes and he wanted off the boat. 🙂
We look so young and not tired! Ha!
Anyway, back to the mantel…
The black and white wood sign was a part of my Merry & Bright Christmas Décor. It has been hanging out empty over an empty mantel since we took down all the holiday décor. I didn’t want to spend much money to create a new look, so I shopped from around my house, as I often do! In fact, the only thing I bought was the cute little white bird ($7 at Target).
The birdcages are both from Hobby Lobby. I like to snag those when they have their 50% off metal décor sales!
The rustic bud vase is from World Market. I originally bought it to use as a wine decanter for this DIY Wine & Cheese Party post. My hubby surprised me with these “Just Because” flowers the other day and they ended up being the perfect last touch for my mantel! 🙂
I love creating elements that are non-permanent so I can re-use things like the striped wood sign for other projects as the seasons/holidays change.
And that’s about the extent of my Valentine’s Décor! Do you decorate for one-day holidays?
