Spencerian Script Style
Here are few notable things I’ve learned while studying the Spencerian style.
- The slant is 52 degrees.
- The x-height is not fixed.
- It is more delicate in appearance than the Copperplate style.
- When you’re writing words and sentences, the thicker strokes are applied irregularly and don’t follow the usual “light pressure for upstrokes, heavy pressure for downstrokes rule”. I’ve read that the general guideline is to apply the thicker strokes to every 3-4 characters.
