It’s the first day of summer! While I don’t love the heat, I’m a big fan of sunshine, sun-kissed cheeks, babies in nothing but diapers, long days, real lemonade, grilling out with friends and family and air conditioning! 🙂
My mantel has been sitting empty for over a month so I finally got around to re-purposing things from around my house and creating a simple banner to create a vintage-inspired theme.
The “vases” are just clear empty wine bottles and a Bonne Maman Jam jar (best jam ever, by the way!)
The hydrangeas I got for 50% off a few months ago from Hobby Lobby. The little bird cage and blue birds I got on sale at Hobby Lobby as well (you may remember them from my Spring Mantel).
The vintage style key I scored from PickYourPlum.
The candle sticks are pretty old but I bought them at Ashley Furniture.
The wood slice is also Hobby Lobby and I used my Silhouette Cameo and some vinyl to cut and apply the bird cage design.
For the banner I again used my Cameo to cut triangles out of scrapbook paper, but you can easily cut the triangles by hand. Then I just added a circle within a circle. I choose the fun vintage font “UglyQua” but I created a simple sheet you can print and cut for the letters (I did this part by hand as well). Simply click the image to download and print! I used my kids glue sticks to put the banner together and taped to ribbon (and the wall!) using plain old Scotch tape.
Hope you all have a great first day of summer and don’t forget to enter the Origami Owl Necklace giveaway going on now!
