Fun with Flourishing: Free Hand Lettering eBook
One of the things my readers and students most frequently ask is “How do I learn flourishing?” Like with all things hand lettering, the single best way to get better is practice. Around here our mantra is “Practice Makes Progress”.
So, yay for new flourishing practice sheets! And can I get an extra yay for FREE practice sheets?
How Do I Develop My Own Flourishing Style?
One of the best ways to practice lettering and develop your own style is via fonts! Use them to study various styles of flourishing, different ways to draw the same letter, for tracing practice, and more. As you practice and study lots of fonts, you’ll start to see your own personal style come out. (Because the end goal is to be original and not a copycat, of course!)
Creating the eBook…
I used a script font called “Birthday” from The Hungry JPEG’s October bundle to design and create these worksheets. It comes with a complete commercial use license, so it’s my go-to purchase for fonts and graphics I plan to use for design work and even for creating with my Silhouette machine.

What Brush Pen should I use for these worksheets?
I recommend using a small brush pen. My personal favorite and the one I highly suggest beginners start with is the Tombow Fudenosuke. Some people initially prefer the soft tip (I did) and some the hard tip. I now use both so I’d opt for the combo pack and see which you prefer. Chances are you’ll fall in love with both!
