This video lesson is about 30 minutes long.
The Basic Steps
- Draw the center knot. Draw a small oval, a rounded square, a circle, or even a heart in the middle where the two loops will meet.
- Draw two small loops. Make two curved “petal” shapes side by side — like a wide butterfly.
- Sketch the ribbon tails. Add two downward ribbon shapes beneath the knot. They can be straight or slightly curved.
- Optional: Add the ribbon ends. Draw a slight “V” cut at the bottom of each tail for that classic ribbon look.
- Add details. Lightly sketch lines inside each loop following the curve to show folds. Do the same on each tail.
- Add color and shading. Fill your outline with soft pastel tones for a coquette vibe. Then, shade near the knot and the inner curves to add dimension.
